Real-time wave information expands for paddlers and boaters in the Apostle Islands

Introducing  WISC-Watch, a new website providing real-time wave conditions for Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Lake Superior.

A new website, WISC-Watch, equipped with in situ data from seven Sofar Ocean Spotters deployed around Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Lake Superior, provides public access to real-time wave conditions for safer boating. Developed through a collaborative effort by the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Wisconsin Sea Grant, and other partners, the site aims to enhance safety by offering crucial wave height, water temperature, and wind data, especially in treacherous waters prone to unpredictable conditions.
