Meet Sahil Chanjta APAC Routing Shift Lead

Behind every routing decision is a team of routers helping vessels navigate safely and efficiently. Meet the team making it happen. Today we are talking to Sahil Chanjta, APAC Routing Shift Lead.

Sahil works extensively on voyage optimization and weather routing. He also contributes to workflow and product improvements, oversees quality assurance, coordinates the team, and drives consistent operational excellence day-to-day. With a marine engineering background, Sahil has built a strong foundation in vessel machinery, fuel systems, performance monitoring, and real-world operational decision-making which all continue to shape how he approaches voyage optimization in his current role.

Why Sofar?

Sofar represents the ideal integration of high-resolution ocean data with real-world maritime operations. It provides the tools and insights needed to move beyond conventional routing toward smarter, safer, and more efficient voyages. Being part of a company that continuously innovates in ocean data and translates that into measurable operational impact through Wayfinder is what motivates me every day.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding part of my role is seeing tangible operational impact from the decisions we support, whether through measurable fuel or time savings, improved voyage planning, or enhanced safety in challenging weather conditions. Having sailed myself, I understand the importance of reliable guidance. Supporting vessels with optimised routing and performance insights, knowing it directly contributes to efficiency, safety, and sustainability, is incredibly fulfilling.
