2025 was a big year for the Spotter platform. We added new sensing capabilities, overhauled the dashboard experience, and made dozens of under-the-hood improvements to reliability and performance—all while our customer community continued to grow in meaningful ways.
None of this happens without your feedback and partnership. Here's a look at what we built together.
We expanded what Smart Mooring can measure with three new sensors:
A Bristlemouth-native dissolved oxygen sensor — complete with an integrated wiper to reduce biofouling — now available for Smart Mooring deployments. This enables long-term water quality monitoring without drift or manual cleaning.
A Bristlemouth-native hydrophone brings passive acoustic monitoring to Smart Mooring, with onboard edge processing that supports custom detection models. Whether you're tracking marine mammals, vessel traffic, or other acoustic signatures, data is processed at the source and transmitted efficiently.
Acoustic data is sensitive, so to ensure we weren't corrupting it with our mooring we developed a low-noise mooring chain that minimizes self-noise from wave motion — so you're capturing ocean sounds, not equipment sounds.

A Bristlemouth-enabled, long-dwell salinity sensor is now available for Smart Mooring deployments, enabling you to track ocean mixing, stratification, and water density changes. Understanding local salinity conditions also helps improve interpretation of other measurements, including dissolved oxygen and acoustic data.
We completely redesigned the Spotter dashboard — the biggest update since launch. The new experience is faster, cleaner, and built to scale with your Spotter network. We've been rolling it out gradually since late 2025, with all customers getting access by the end of January.
