Wayfinder's new Vessel Onboarding feature makes it easier than ever to get a vessel set up and routing. Operators can add a vessel and complete onboarding in one guided flow, reducing coordination overhead and getting to first voyage faster.
Vessel Onboarding is a self-serve, guided flow within Wayfinder. Key vessel details are automatically pre-filled from trusted external reference data, reducing the amount of manual input required. Operators review the pre-filled information, complete any remaining fields, and submit. Once onboarding is finalized, the vessel is active in Wayfinder and ready for voyage planning.
Teams can choose how to complete the vessel particulars questionnaire depending on how they operate:
For vessels with limited internet access, onboarding supports an offline workflow. Teams can download the questionnaire, complete it onboard, and upload it once access is available.

The Vessel Onboarding dashboard gives shoreside teams a centralized view of onboarding status across their fleet. Progress is visible in one place, without relying on email updates to track where each vessel stands.
Once onboarding is complete, each vessel is configured with a Sofar Ocean vessel performance model. Built from class-average data and continuously refined using real-time performance data, this model underpins the routing recommendations Wayfinder generates for that vessel.
Vessel Onboarding is now available in Wayfinder. Reach out to your Wayfinder CSM with any questions, or learn more at sofarocean.com/company/contact-us.
